Malin Ljungblom joins the Skeppsholm Group with solid industry experience and passion for experiences, culture and music!
We are pleased to welcome Malin Ljungblom as the new Project Manager at Skeppsholmsgruppen. With a solid background in the hospitality industry and a passion for creating memorable experiences, we look forward to the contributions she will bring to our team.
Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your background?
I grew up in Ekerö, a place that combines different worlds – from royal castles and cow pastures to graffiti-painted barns and luxury villas. This diversity also reflects me as a person; I have a burning interest in horses and enjoy country life, while I love the pulse of the city and being where the action is. Experiences and creating memories is something I am really passionate about, which is also the reason why I work with what I do today.
What attracted you to join the Skeppsholm Group?
The opportunity to work with such a wide range of different premises in a magical place like Skeppsholmen was extremely attractive. Working with the owners Elin and Matilda, who have a strong drive and ambition to grow and deliver world-class experiences, really inspires me. The passion for experiences, culture and music really permeates the business here, and it is fantastic to work with people who share your interest.
What did you do before you started here, and how do you think your previous experience can contribute to your new role?
I have worked in the hospitality industry all my working life. It started with me running a small café on Kungsholmen together with my father. After that, I have had various roles of responsibility at various restaurants in the city, as well as a period in Norway and Spain. In recent years I have worked as a project manager for events at Fotografiska.
I love to develop and learn new things, so I have attended various courses and graduated as a concept developer for hospitality and events at IHM Business School. I have also studied revenue management for hospitality, innovative music management and concept development of digital events. My education contributes to my business acumen and the ability to create the right offer for the right person. My experience from the restaurant industry gives me insights into what is needed to ensure the best possible service and experience during events.
What is your role at Skeppsholmsgruppen and what does it mean in practice?
My role is sales project manager for events towards the private market. This means that I will sell and handle inquiries regarding booking of our fantastic premises, as well as project manage and be responsible for these during the planning phase and implementation. My role also includes constantly developing our product and our offers, as well as creating as smart and attractive solutions as possible for our customers.
What are you most looking forward to working on here?
I look forward to being part of the exciting growth phase that Skeppsholmsgruppen is in.
How do you hope to contribute to the Skeppsholm Group and its future development?
I hope that my drive and expertise in events and business and concept development will contribute positively to the Skeppsholms Group’s future development.
How has your first time at Skeppsholmsgruppen been?
I have felt very welcomed and cared for.
What is your first impression of the team and the workplace culture?
What event stars! What a drive! I’m impressed every day by the high level of the team here. I feel that there is a high ceiling and that we are all working together towards the same goal – owners, salespeople, project managers and partners.
Is there anything that has surprised you since you started?
Skeppsholmen. What a fantastic little island!
What do you like to do in your spare time when you are not working?
It varies quite a lot. Sometimes I feel like yoga and a night at home with a Netflix marathon. Other times, I want a night out on the town where I hang out with friends, try different restaurants, go to concerts and events. Some days I’m in the stable packing hay bags, other days I travel for a weekend to some exciting city.
Do you have a favorite spot on Skeppsholmen (or nearby) that you would like to recommend?
The walk I take every morning from the Kungsträdgården metro to Skeppsholmen is quite magical. You pass the ships splashing at the quay, see the sun rise over the water, with the castle and the Old Town in the background. Pretty unbeatable.
If you could choose one dream activity or event to organize on Skeppsholmen, what would it be?
I wouldn’t say no to organizing a music festival where each venue offers live music of different kinds, where attendees can just pop in and discover genres they might never have heard before, but might start to love. It will also be a chance for new bands to be discovered, and a chance for people to make new connections.
I would also like to create events and activities to combat involuntary loneliness.
